Braces, what options are available to you in London SE1

Everyone knows what braces are and what they do for your teeth. Or do they? Braces are a form of orthodontic treatment that is incredibly common in our world today. Many teenagers and young people are required to wear braces in order to realign their teeth and many adults still remember how it felt to have your braces fitted and tightened. But how do braces really work, and how do you know if they are right for you?
Braces move the teeth into a better alignment by exerting a combination of pressure and force. Teeth will be gently moved when the arched wire of braces puts pressure on the brackets that can be found on the surface of the teeth. In certain cases, rubber bands may be used on the braces in order to force the teeth into a more specific location. The constant pressure on the brackets of braces is what eventually moves the teeth into the correct position.
Braces can either be used to solve cosmetic flaws or for more serious conditions such as overbites and underbites. However, the results from braces can take many months, even years to come to fruition and this can be very disheartening, especially when the braces themselves can be a source of decreased self-confidence.
If you think you may need braces, ask your local dentist in London SE1 for their opinion. They may take X-rays or 3D photographs to get a better idea of the structures inside your mouth, if they think you could benefit from braces, they will refer you to a local orthodontist.
